Regarding storage capability – you've got some poor LIC Caps, I've seen 750F 18x40mm supercap and according to my calculations it has around x8 energy storage. Those are manufactured by CDA, I haven't bought any of those though

I had the same idea as @MC's Creations to order 4 of those for a spot welding project, but I got a heart attack when I saw the price 😀 I think high crank AGM lead acids are still the cheapest source of high current DC!

I can see these being useful for some applications I have, like replacing batteries for low-noise biasing of photodiodes. Maybe I'll pick up some to try out…
The issue with supercapacitors is their voltage is proportional to the charge level (2V @ 100%, 1V @ 50%) batteries can retain a mostly constant operating voltage up to the point where there almost discharged. So using a super capacitor currently would require a boost converter to maintain a constant voltage on whatever load you’re powering it with.

These things seem really interesting at twenty cents, rather than 20 dollars. I am sure there will be some applications. But there will be a lot more applications as manufacturing scales up and costs come down. 0.25 Wh is just not a lot of power, and it isn't very volumetrically dense so it isn't suited to super mobile applications. It's a very narrow niche where the advantages win out against other options right now.
That said, I love the idea of some "permanent" devices that aren't limited by charge/discharge cycles of liion batteries. Super caps may be a piece of the puzzle for having some electronics that are less disposable, and that seems like a good thing.

I'm designing an "hold-up PSU", an auxiliary power supply which is meant to hold-up the voltage of the main power rail when the external power supply is suddenly removed so to allow the system to gracefully shut down.
Commercially available supercaps are also rated at voltages higher than 2.7V (5V or 9V for example) and I'm wondering why you haven't included those in your comparison.
Short answer is no, not any time soon.
you also forgot to mention that they last nearly forever, cycles are the bigger issue in electrical cars IMO, constantly needing to replace them every few years
Low self discharge protection and current limitation as suggested by the manufacturer required for capacitors seems like it should come with a different name. Maybe Hybrid Super Capacitor.
Do a reverse Voltage. We wanna know how it explode compare to a normal capacitor. just for science

If you want the highest capacity you need the capacitors from Skeleton Ultra capacitors. Ultra capacitors are for example already used to store large amounts of energy in combination with wind turbines at an island in Scotland.

Well this is an interesting topic. I didn't know about super capacitors, much less the lithium ones! I'll have to look into those.
You should look into Headway Lifepo4 batteries. The red version. Up to 200 Amp sustained continuous discharge rate! Very safe and a much longer duty cycle than Lithium Ion batteries.
4 Headway in series will make a wrench glow. 8 in series will literally melt a Craftsman wrench in half!

I would say that LTO batteries pretty much killed of most aplications of super caps. The discharge rate is about the same, the lifetime capacity not much smaler and the efficency is also greate
