Win Test Equipment: Enroll at the Keysight University (incl. $300'000 raffle)

It is March again and I want to remind you if you did not already hear about it. As each year, a special event for Engineers takes place: The Keysight University, where you can learn interesting things. But, to be honest, there is an even more important reason to register: As the only company I know of, they give away 300’000$ in cool equipment. And the best: It is not only open for corporate customers. It is also open for us Makers. This is the best way to get equipment you cannot afford because the chances are high to win. In recent years a few of my viewers wrote me that they won an oscilloscope or a power supply.

Just so everyone know, remember to read the terms and conditions! Not every country is included in the giveaway. I hate non global giveaways/competitions when the host is not upfront about the country limitations. I don't know if it is Keysight's choice to not include many countries or not, but it should at least be clear at the time of the registration, and not just in small print in the T&Cs.
And I'd love to know why only these countries are allowed to partecipate to the giveaway. I'm sure it's not about import taxes and duties, because as the T&Cs say it's the winner's responsability.
This is an extract from T&Cs for the giveaway:
This promotion is limited to specific countries and is only open to entrants aged 18 years or older at the time of submission who are legal residents of, and physically located within, Austria, Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea Republic of, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, United States (excluding Florida, New York, and Rhode Island), and Venezuela.

sry for broken english, I'm Italian 🙂

And as last year… SHAME ON KEYSIGHT! They accept the signing up of people who a not eligeble to win any prize, and even include those countries in "country option", like Brazil in my case, leading people to believe they are participating and that they could have a chance to win something, but when you read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS you will find the following:

"This promotion is limited to specific countries and is only open to entrants aged 18 years or older (if in the United States: 19 years for Alabama and 21 years for Mississippi) at the time of submission who are legal residents of, and physically located within, Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), USA (excluding New York, Florida, and Rhode Island), Puerto Rico, Japan, South Korea; Taiwan, China; Chile, Austria, Finland, India, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, UK, South Africa, Government agencies and institutions (including public universities), and their employees, are not eligible to participate or receive prizes…"

Hi ! Before anything else : Thanks for sharing ! Now, I have some "strange" questions, not video or electronics related : I saw videos on YT about Switzerland having a "low noise" law, you can't even flush the toilet after some hour or the Police will visit you (?) so, my questions are : Is that true even for houses with no neighbours side-to-side to you ? And, also : Then, Nobody have in Switzerland a "home workshop" with table saw, jointer, little CNC, metal lathe, milling machine, … ? Is different in the french side ? My interest is because emigration, but is nothing more than a "though" for now, just thinking in that. Cheers !

Hey Andreas, did you ever do an episode about Dishka? Did you ever do one on gps sensors in a country with gsm 2.0 disabled? I was wondering how hard it would be to make a gps lora tracker for my cat, that's small and wearable! Will you do an episode on that? 😉

I participated a few years ago and won an oscilloscope that was WAY cool (and WAY over my head at first)! Kudos to Keysight for what they do.

I'm not sure I could afford the taxes on a free $10,000+ oscilloscope. I'd have to sell it and buy a cheaper one, lol.

Thanks. I was wondering if I could offer a subject to cover on your future videos. Most of us have analog/old oscilloscopes sitting around. One I have, for instance, is good up to 20mHz. Want to make use of it for higher frequencies, say 100-500mHz, witin the concept of ESP32 etc,.. Would it be posisble to make a video about making/utilizing frequency divider(s) to derive old/analog scopes? Thanks a bunch.

It kind of reflects negative on HP/Agilent/Keysight when they exclude countries, especially it's funny they exclude countries like Malaysia where much of their equipment is manufactured.
